This year marks the 17th edition of BOBMC Rider Mania. This congregation of Royal Enfield enthusiast groups and individuals started in 2003 in Goa with 70 riders attending and has now grown to almost 1700 strong in 2019. The BOBMC Rider Mania 2019 is being held in Udaipur this term and is being hosted by the swell guys at India Bull Riders.
So, if you seem to find yourself sad because the curtains are coming down on BOBMC RM19, here are a few cool places to ride to after the event winds up :-
Bhangarh ( a.k.a Bhootiya Garh )

Trespassing near Bhangarh is legally prohibited between sunset and sunrise. That is quite the opening statement even for a place that is considered to be one of the most haunted places in India. According to locals, Bhangarh is the “abode of spirits” after sunset and thus no one is allowed to enter during the time between sunrise and sunset. Doom and gloom aside, Bhangarh is home to historical ruins such as the Gopinath temple and Bhangarh fort among others. Safe to say, the biggest threat in Bhangarh is the threat of being caught by the officials in the area after sunset. Also, Bhangarh is on the Periphery of the Sariska Tiger Reserve, the ride to which is apparently a treat for the eyes!
Kuldhara ( a.k.a Cursed Ghost Town )

This site has around 410 buildings that were once the home of Paliwal Brahmins that inhabited the area. It saw witness to a mass exodus of all its inhabitants between the 17th and 19th century up to a point where it became completely deserted. Although there are many legends about this village including many that accuse it of being a ghost town in the full sense of the word. However, studies show that Kuldhara and its neighbouring villages were deserted as a result of earthquakes and not paranormal activity. It is still is a fascinating place to visit and see remnants life centuries ago.
Om Banna Temple ( a.k.a Bullet Baba Temple )

Come On!...any temple that worships an Enfield Bullet is worth checking out. The worshipped bike belonged to a guy called Om Banna who met his tragic end while riding his Bullet on the roads around these parts. Legend dictates that the crashed bike came back to the site of crash on its own even after being towed away by the Police multiple times. Anyways, makes for an interesting story and a good reason to check out this temple dedicated to one of the most loved bikes ever. Worth a shot if you ask us.
Chand Baori Stepwell – Abhaneri

It is a very impressive piece of old school tech built to keep water cool in the scorching Rajasthan summer. The bottom of the stepwell is about 6-7 degrees from the surface due to which it was a cluster point for hoards of people to get water and cool off. It is also a spectacular sight to look at and marvel at the engineering capabilities of the people who constructed them with ancient tech. This site makes cameos in a plethora of movies and served as the inspiration for the prison well scene from The Dark Knight Rises.
Kumbalgarh fort ( a.k.a The Great Wall of India)

Its perimeter walls are the second longest on the planet behind the O.G great wall from China at 36km in length. The fort wall makes for a stunning site with the fort blending into the mountains effortlessly. The fort houses 360 temples of which 300 are ancient Jain and the rest are Hindu temples. The top of the wall is a legendary spot to take in views of the vast Aravali range. One can even catch views of the sand dunes of the Thar desert.
Mehrangarh Fort

It is literally the first image that comes to your mind when you think of a mountaintop fort in Rajasthan. The Royal City was the centre of power for the Mewar Clan and had several forts and temples to entice travelers from around the world. It is one of the largest forts in India and offers a 360 degree view of the blue city. Most of the cool photographs of Jodhpur come from atop the Mehrangarh fort.
Jaisalmer ( a.k.a Golden City )

Jaisalmer is the west most city of Rajasthan and serves up plentyof attractions and features including its forts, rich culture and traditions. The city is shrouded by the Aravali range and has many attractions including the fact that an arial view of the city looks like a prince sitting on the ridge of the sand dunes with the Jaisalmer fort constituting his crown. Also, this years RM comes at the perfect time for you to ride down there and catch the famous desert festival. Other attractions include a Camel safari to the Sam sand dune, a visit to the Longewala Border, which India shares with Pakistan, and the Tanot Mata Temple.
